Expo Plaza, adjacent to the Special Libraries, invites people to read and relax in the shaded open air. The space flowing into the building’s various entrances is formed of concrete chiselled walls into which long wooden benches are set along with vegetation in giant pots. To make the space inviting for a stroll, a number of structures for displaying university exhibitions have been located among the plaza elements. The lightwell to the underground parking area is planted with tall bamboo. The staircases leading down are glazed (with fire protection glass) so as to allow as much daylight as possible into the parking area below.
